Corporate Donors

Bustad Hall
Washington State University
ARCS is especially grateful to our generous corporate donors, who make such a major contribution to our fellowship programs for students at The University of Washington, and the Washington State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Corporate sponsorship creates a strong community relationship, as students benefit from local corporate support, and members of the business community benefit from a dynamic university community in the sciences, medicine and engineering. These corporations know the value in attracting the best and the brightest to our region. Here is one example of the support ARCS receives, highlighting the positive incentives for providing financial support to these spectacular scholars.
WRF'S SUPPORT OF ARCS
Washington Research Foundation (WRF) provides funding for 28 three-year scholarships to ARCS Fellows, and it has committed to support four additional scholarships for Fiscal Year 2001.
WRF supports the ARCS program because of its efficiency in giving 100 percent of donated money to scholars and because ARCS' mission parallels WRF's commitment to research and scholarship at the University of Washington. The ARCS program has enabled the University of Washington to attract young, promising scientists who might not otherwise have come to the university.
To sustain the economic vitality of this region it is imperative that the university continues to attract scholars from a variety of scientific disciplines. It can only do so with the kind of financial support represented by ARCS.
Founded in 1981, nonprofit WRF manages licensing activities for patents related to early research-based technologies from the university. Revenue from these licensing activities and investments provide funding for investing in start-up companies that have strong ties to the University of Washington and other nonprofit research institutions in Washington State.
