  expanding\, uncontrolled Bundibugyo Ebolavirus ou
 tbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo thr
 eatens to be the largest Ebola outbreak in history
 . The World Health Organization has declared it a 
 Public Health Emergency of International Concern.\
 n \n \n \n Join us as for an overview of key innov
 ations in the development of an Ebolavirus vaccine
 \, how that knowledge is being applied to the curr
 ent outbreak\, and how Ebola research being conduc
 ted at JABSOM is contributing to outbreak response
 .  \n \n \n \n Development of vaccines and therape
 utics is essential for long-term prevention and co
 ntrol of Ebolaviruses. Development of ERVEBO—the l
 icensed single-dose\, live-attenuated recombinant 
 vaccine for the Zaire strain of Ebolavirus—provide
 s important lessons on the regulatory\, clinical\,
  and development process that can be applied to th
 e ongoing Bundibugyo outbreak and other epidemic p
 athogens\, including the critical nature of public
 -private partnerships\, need for innovation and co
 ordination in clinical trial design\, regulatory h
 armonization\, and importance of community engagem
 ent. Applying this knowledge is key as the public 
 health community comes together to address the Bun
 dibugyo outbreak\, especially given reduced invest
 ment in emerging infectious disease research and t
 he U.S. withdrawal from the WHO.\n \n \n \n Beth-A
 nn Griswold Coller is a retired pharmaceutical exe
 cutive with more than 30 years of post-doctoral va
 ccine development experience. She worked in small 
 biotech and large pharmaceutical firms with a part
 icular focus on viral vaccines and vaccines for tr
 opical diseases. She was senior vice president for
  research and development at Hawaii Biotech Inc. u
 ntil 2010\, when she joined Merck & Co.\, Inc.\, R
 ahway\, N.J.\, where she led product development t
 eams for Ebola and dengue vaccine candidates. A lo
 ng-standing member of the American Society Tropica
 l Medicine and Hygiene and the American Society fo
 r Virology\, she continues to support important pu
 blic health initiatives. She serves on the Scienti
 fic Advisory Committee for the Coalition for Epide
 mic Preparedness Innovation\, leads the vaccine se
 ction update to the World Health Organization’s Fi
 lovirus Road Map\, acts as an Independent Data Mon
 itoring Committee member supporting Filovirus vacc
 ine development for a non-profit\, and serves on t
 he Scientific Advisory Boards for two NIH-funded (
 Research and Development of Vaccines and Monoclona
 l Antibodies) programs.\n \n \n \n Dr. Coller has 
 more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed journal
 s. She received her BS from Norwich Unversity\, Me
 dical Technology Certification from the University
  of Virginia\, MS from the University of Dayton\, 
 and PhD from the University of Nebraska Medical Ce
