The Minnesota Chapter of ARCS is pleased to present a free online webinar on the global perception of science and the important need for science advocacy on Monday, May 4 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm CDT.

Dr. Jayshree Seth, 3M Chief Science Advocate, will provide an overview of the 3M State of Science Index. This is a global survey of more than 14,000 people in 14 countries that uncovered what people think about science and its impact on their daily lives.

Many of the survey findings highlight the importance of reducing real and perceived barriers to science appreciation and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics/medicine) education to ensure that we have:

  • A healthy pipeline of future scientists and engineers to solve complex challenges and to have these solutions accepted by society.
  • Successful businesses and economies based on the continued development of sustainable innovations.
  • The inclusion of diverse perspectives inside our organizations and in our communities to bring creative thinking, innovative mindsets, and scientific prowess together to solve real-world problems.

In her talk, Jayshree will discuss how 3M promotes a culture of innovation and diverse STEM involvement internally and externally through its science advocacy efforts. She will share examples from her personal journey as she explores ways we can advocate for science and promote STEM awareness, equity and access for all.
