at ARCS Honolulu Chapter's  annual Heart of Gold Fundraiser Luncheon and Auction

Speakers Margaret Anne McManus and Grieg Steward are both professors of oceanography in the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa's School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology. A physical oceanographer, Dr. McManus is department chair, director of the Uehiro Center for the Advancement of Oceanography, and leader of the Coastal Physical Oceanography and Marine Ecosystems group, which studies coastal oceanography and the dynamics of marine ecosystems. Representing the biological side of the discipline, Dr. Steward is the principal Investigator heading the Steward Lab in UH's Center for Microbial Oceanography—Research and Education, with focus on marine viruses and ocean microbe ecology. He received the 2020 UH Regents' Medal for Excellence in Teaching ,and both have been advisors to ARCS Scholars.
