Two Chances to Win, One Reigning Chapter

Posted on Monday, July 8, 2024

This year, ARCS National made the Chapter Challenge competitive by offering all fifteen chapters four chances to win. The challenge will have first—and second-place winners for each grant.

All fifteen of ARCS Foundation’s regional chapters are challenged each year by ARCS National to raise funds for ARCS National. Members and their family and friends from across the nation support their favorite chapter by donating to ARCS National’s Operations and/or Endowment Funds for their chapter’s chance to win ARCS Scholar grants.

Originally, there were two grants for $2,500 each, but this year, there were four opportunities to win. The Scholar Award Participation Grant and the Scholar Award Champion Grant have a $1,500 first-place winner and a $1,000 second-place winner.

From the 2023-24 Chapter Challenge, one chapter claimed victory again for the third year in a row. Congratulations to the Phoenix Chapter for achieving the best results in both challenges.

The chapter will receive a $1,500 Scholar Award Participation Grant for its Scholar Awards program. The Los Angeles Chapter, in second place, will celebrate with a $1,000 grant. The Scholar Award Participation Grant rewards chapters for the most individual member participation.

Phoenix Chapter will also receive another $1,500 grant, the Scholar Award Champion Grant, for generating the most donations overall in the challenge. Second place was the Washington Metro Chapter for a $1,000 grant.

Phoenix Chapter President Judy LeMarr says, "The Phoenix Chapter membership is committed to the mission of ARCS. Supporting ARCS through the Chapter Challenge is an easy way for our members to support the efforts and purpose of ARCS on a national level and support our three universities through the awards."

Here are the top rankings for each challenge in 2023-2024:

Participation Challenge (the highest member participation)

  1. Phoenix
  2. Los Angeles

Champion Challenge (the most dollars raised overall)

  1. Phoenix
  2. Metro Washington

Donations to ARCS National are used to elevate the visibility of scholars and their work. They help promote the ARCS brand and national visibility through social media, press releases, and a monthly newsletter. Since ARCS Foundation’s inception in 1958, the organization has awarded more than $131 million to more than 11,500 scholars.
