IS Committee Bulletins

The IS Committee routinely sends out information about the website.  The collection of Website Bulletins is located in the National Document Library (see the link to the Document Library in the menu to the left) under Website Resources/IS Committee Website Bulletins.  Check out the bulletins for the latest website updates and best practices.  Here is a direct link to the folder of IS Website Bulletins.  Note you must be logged in to use the link.

ARCS Technology Overview

The technology overview provides a brief survey of the ARCS-supported technology for public web pages, member-only pages, and contact management, including mailings and event registration. It also reviews available reports and online resources and touches on the ARCS YouTube channel and non-profit Google Workspace usage. Watch the video here.

2020-21 Webinars

During the 2020-21 year the IS Committee organized webinars on a variety of topics.  This page contains links to the videos for the webinars held in the 2020-21 fiscal year.  The sessions covered the use of different social media platforms, content editing, doing mailings, updating scholar information, etc.

Contact Management

CiviCRM using "contact records" to keep track of all the information for people and organizations.   Download this document  for a very detailed "How-To" explanation on creating new contacts, editing existing contacts and adding groups and tags to organize contact records.

CiviDesk Training

ARCS received a customized set of training session from our vendor, CiviDesk, when we moved to this new platform.  The following four 2-hour sessions presented by Susan Engeman of CiviDesk were held for ARCS Website Administrators responsible for managing ARCS chapter contacts (members, scholars, donors), events, memberships and awards.   Although we are currently using a different version of CiviCRM, these videos still provide great information on our ARCS CiviCRM implementation.

Session 1:  Contact Management

This session covers contacts types, creating new contacts, managing relationships between contacts, basic and advanced searches, using groups and tags and managing and reporting on activities. Link to the video.   Link to the slides.

Session 2:  Event Management

The second session for Data Admins covers Event Management.  How to set up a new event, manage registrations for an event, including generating attendee lists and other reports.  Link to the videoLink to the slides.

Session 3:  Membership Management

Membership management topics include membership types, status and rules, tracking memberships, collecting and reporting on dues and donations,  and manually recording a membership. This session also goes over how to create a new Drupal user.  All members and scholars need to have a CiviCRM contact record AND be defined as a Drupal user so they can log on and utilize the private part of our website. Session 4:  Awards, Reports, CiviMail, Price sets

The final session in this series covers:

  • Scholar Awards: how to enter them, search for them and produce reports.
  • Creating reports on other CiviCRM entities such as contacts, contributions, etc.
  • Setting up a mailing using built-in CiviMail.
  • Creating and using price sets for events and membership renewals.
