Sokol Blosser Wine Tour and Tasting 12:30 pm-5:00 pm Available Saturday afternoon $95 additional cost Bus transportation provided (arrival and reload in the parking lot to the right of the fork in the driveway)* Sit back and unwind at one of the pioneering wineries of Oregon. Sokol Blosser Winery, a family-owned and operated vineyard, is the 6th largest wine producer in Oregon. Located in the scenic Dundee Hills of Oregon, the venue provides the ideal climate for growing quintessential grape varieties. Their wines are hand-crafted through environmentally friendly techniques, with a mission for being “synonymous with sustainability.” Sokol Blosser Winery is known for balanced pinot noirs and a popular white wine blend called Evolution. During this two-hour tour, you will sit tableside as you sample an assortment of wines in the new Tasting Room. You’ll also enjoy delectable butcher board appetizers. *Bus will begin loading at 12:30 pm and depart by 12:45 pm. A box lunch will be provided during the 50-60 minute trip. Whales and Marine Science on the Oregon Coast Available Sunday 8:00 am-4:30 pm $95 additional cost Bus transportation provided (arrival and reload in front of Marily Guin Library)** On this all-day tour, you’ll explore the best of Oregon’s marine life. Enjoy a presentation at the Hatfield Marine Science Center by whale expert Bruce Mate, director of the Whale Telemetry Group in the Marine Mammal Institute of Oregon State University. Mate has been a leader in the development of satellite-monitored radio telemetry for marine mammals, using this technique to tag and track various marine animals. Other tour hosts will be Mary Lou Mate, ARCS member and videographer, Bob Cowen, director of the Hatfield Center, and Shea Steingass, ARCS Alum whose research focuses on harbor seals. The group will have lunch in the picturesque Nye Beach. Then, we'll travel to the northern end of Newport for stunning views of a lighthouse on the ocean as we search for whales. **Buses will begin loading at 8:00 am and depart by 8:15 am. The drive time is approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes. Buses will reload at 2:00 pm for return to The Nines Hotel by approximately 4:30 pm.
